Treating Rosacea:
Rosacea may vary substantially from one person to another, a consultation is essential and the treatment must be tailored by a practitioner for each individual case. Practitioners at Face Today Medi Clinic use Intense Pulsed Light to treat persistent redness, 'broken' capillaries, and difficult to control cases of Rosacea. This treatment is very effective for the redness, flushing, blood vessels and calms the inflammation and sensitivity of the skin. Multiple treatments may be required and Rosacea can recur with time following IPL treatment so future treatments may be necessary. Photo Abrasion is a technique which uses Microdermabrasion to remove the uneven, dry and thickened skin cells so commonly experienced with many types of Rosacea and then immediately follows with an Intense Pulsed Light treatment. The Microdermabrasion not only smooths the skin and clears the pores but increases the redness of the face temporarily. This in turn improves the effectiveness of the Intense Pulse Light treatment, providing a better outcome with each treatment. Resurfacing Plasma Lasers such as the amazing ‘Portrait’ is often effective for treating rhinophyma (commonly known as ‘potato' nose).
Correct skincare is essential for Rosacea. Both rosacea and sensitive skin are the result of an overload in inflammation and it is therefore critical to use ingredients that remodel, repair and calm so the skins health is restored. Face Today Medi Clinic have formulated with Dr Ben Johnson a skin care range for Rosacea based on the most recent scientific research available today.
Face Today Rx Rosacea serums are designed to calm the inflammation and encourage repair in a non-irritating fashion. The liposomes vastly improve penetration while restoring epidermal barrier protection. An intact barrier is a critical component of the restoration process of Rosacea because it reduces excess oil production and improves wound healing efficiency by reducing free radicals and restoring moisture. Eleven active, liposome coated ingredients including retinaldehyde (which has been proven in independent research to be highly effective for Rosacea) make our products superior to anything else on the market.
Face Today Rx Deluxe Cleanse is a luxurious gentle cleanser effectively removing dirt, makeup and environmental toxins without drying out the skin or stripping the skin's protective lipid barrier. It is sodium laurel sulphate free, using soothing, natural kiwi and kumquat derivatives to purify the skin. Face Today Rx Reveal Enzyme firming mask is a delicious cranberry enzyme-smoothing, peptide-firming, antioxidant mask. It is a mild, exfoliating mask that gives the skin a smooth, healthy appearance with each application
Face Today Rx Serene serum is unique in that it is calming, repairing the barrier (often damaged in Rosacea), rebuilding the dermis and reducing visible capillaries (retinaldehyde is the only non-prescription, proven treatment for Rosacea).
Face Today Rx Nutrify is an all-natural, chirally correct, liposomal antioxidant serum with the most proven and potent antioxidants available and contains 5 collagen/elastin stimulators.
Face Today Rx Moisture Divine: an all-natural, luxurious hyaluronic acid and liquid crystal moisturizer that restores the epidermal barrier.
Face Today Rx Parasol all-natural, SPF 29+, zinc oxide sunblock, moisturizer proven to withstand sun exposure better than most sunblock’s on the market providing significant broad spectrum protection (SPF 29+) utilizing silica-coated micronized zinc. This is the safest sunblock ingredient available because it does not break down like uncoated zinc and it does not absorb into our system.
Face Today Rx Ultimate DNA serum is proven to be the single greatest invention in the history of skin care. Skin Repair Growth Factor (SRGF-7) appears to be active by rejuvenating DNA/RNA by promoting the repair of damaged strands, reducing scar tissue build-up by improving protein production. It stimulates collagen production and improves the strength and elasticity of the collagen structure and repairs many facial capillaries.
Medication for Rosacea
Oral antibiotics are effective in suppressing the condition in most cases; however, for the majority the effect is temporary. Topical antibiotic is effective in many people with Rosacea but may take several weeks or months for its beneficial effects to become apparent. Its regular application may prolong periods of remission or reduce oral antibiotic requirements. Hydrocortisone cream may be prescribed to treat Rosacea, but more potent corticosteroids are unsuitable. In addition to long-term medical therapy, Rosacea patients can improve their chances of maintaining remission by identifying and avoiding lifestyle and environmental factors — often related to flushing — that may trigger flare-ups or aggravate their individual conditions. Identifying these factors is an individual process, however, because what causes a flare-up in one person may have no effect on another.
